adversity

picture courtesy via not just a housewife

At times we may despair that our burdens are too great. When it seems that tempest is raging in our lives, we may feel abandoned and cry outlike the disciples in the storm, “Master, carest thou not that we perish?”(Mark 4:38). At such times we should remember His
reply: “Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?”

this sunday i will be speaking about adversity.  i am so grateful for this opportunity.  usually i'm never too enthused about speaking when first asked; but through my preparations, i honestly can't wait to share all that i have learned. the teacher always learns the most, right?  here are a few amazing quotes & scriptures i would like to share with you today.

Master, with anguish of spirit
I bow in my grief today.
The depths of my sad heart are troubled.
Oh, waken and save, I pray!
Torrents of sin and of anguish
Sweep o’er my sinking soul,
And I perish! I perish! dear Master.
Oh, hasten and take control!

“For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light”

“Commune with the Lord. … He is your best friend! He knows your pain because He has felt it for you already. He is ready to carry that burden.  Trust Him enough to place it at His feet and allow Him to carry it for you.  Then you can have your anguish replaced with His peace, in the very depths of your soul” (unknown- letter dated Apr. 18, 2005).
