[friday i'm in love]

ewww! so we've been dealing with a broken refrigerator the last couple of days.  we have no idea how long it was running broken and it reeked!  like something died bad!
so, we heard this tip and i just had to share, it's brilliant!

to remove smells from your refrigerator and/or freezer, fill it up with crinkled newspaper and let it soak
up the smells.
it's magic!
try it!

*cleaning any spills and/or removing bad food recommended first

these pins made me smile this week.

and have you ever heard this song?  it's my new fave.  i'll probably listen to it way too much, wear it out and then won't be able to listen to it for years.  but that's okay, it's so pretty!
take a listen & let me know what you think!

[the birthday beneath the trees]

oh how i love large mature trees... almost as much as i love my little niece cecilia.
months ago she celebrated her fourth birthday in her beautiful backyard.
i finally got around to editing these photos and i have to say, these are definitely some of my favorites!
it was a gorgeous spring morning, warm and bright and full of laugher and fun.
cousins and friends gathered to play and party!
cupcakes, pin the crown on the princess, and mini magnifying glasses were all so very entertaining.
happy birthday sweetie!
hugs all around!

[home office: blue baby!]

for ever and ever, i've always loved the color blue!  maybe it's because my mom always dressed me in
blue to match my eyes, or it may be due to the fact that it's known for tranquility and calmness.
they say blue can be strong and steadfast or light and friendly.  almost everyone likes some shade of the
color blue.
in many diverse cultures blue is significant in religious beliefs, brings peace, or is believed to keep the
bad spirits away.
to me it screams clean & fresh, yet comfortable.
have you ever taken the color personality test?  i'm 95% blue, what are you?
this blue (above) is the color we plan to paint here in our home office.
sam surprised me one night and rolled out this swatch (above) on one of the walls to see how it'll look.
now have to do it, right?  i really think it will make all the white furniture POP.  i can't wait!
to really finish it off, we plan to hang a large heavy white crown moulding around the top and paint these ceilings white too.

here are a few more pics to share with you after a couple of them were featured last week on 6th street design
a big thank you to kirsten!  it was such an honor!
a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils.
my sister kate and i always quote this line, but it's so necessary to have lots of readily available pencils
with kids!  now do they put them back when they're done?  i'm working on that.
did you download the freebie did you think to pray? print yet?  if not, go here to grab it!
now back to the real world after a fun filled holiday weekend!
happy blogging!
